an atmospheric restaurant

PalingsHuis in Temse

a unique, timeless decor

The PalingsHuis opened in 1870 and is the oldest restaurant in Temse and probably far beyond. Since 1973 it has been run by the family of Remi and Annemie Van Grasdorff-Goossens. Son Coert has been running the restaurant for several years and is the specialist-prepairer of our delicious mussels. An expert jury, commissioned by the Gazet van Antwerpen, searched for the best mussels in the Waasland-Mechelen region and unanimously chose Het PalingsHuis in Temse as the best mussel restaurant of 2019-2020. We don't have to tell you that twice, anyway?!

Book your table online at The PalingsHuis and enjoy a professional and personal service in a relaxed atmosphere. With our fresh ingredients we provide you with the most delicious dishes.

Coert Van Grasdorff

It's so far! After a little over a year, eel lovers can once again visit the house of trust: The PalingsHuis at the Wilfordkaai.

Coert Van Grasdorff took over the business from his parents Remi Van Grasdorff and Annemie Goossens, who ran the business since 1973. The old building of 1870 was replaced by a new building that meets the standards of a contemporary restaurant, with the main aim of creating a home for the customers without touching the warm feeling and soul of the past.

The menu remains the same, with lobster, oysters and mussels in addition to eel. During the hunting season, our customers also enjoy delicious game menus.
